Traction power national key laboratory

Traction power national key laboratory which has been approved by the SDPC plan [1989] no. 32 of science and technology, relies on southwest Jiao Tong University. Its former head of the unit is the ministry of railways, but now is the ministry of education. This laboratory officially started to build in 1989, and initially built in August 1993, and then was approved to operate by the ministry. In 1995, it formally accepted the national research and test task, after nearly 2 years of commissioning, in November 1995 it got the national acceptance. In 1998,it participated in the organization of the ministry of education evaluation, and was rated as excellent national key laboratory in two assessment in 2003 and 2008.At present, it is one of the organizing corporate of modern rail transit national laboratory. This laboratory sets rail transit vehicle as the research object, centers on the fundamentality and innovation of high-speed and heavy-haul train as the core. It has ensures six research directions according to the world development trend of rail transit and rail transit technology characteristic which are about the structure design of railway vehicles and traction drive, dynamics and strength analysis, and  related  research content, followings are six research directions:

1) Design theory and structural reliability of locomotive vehicle

2) Locomotive vehicle coupling system dynamics and control

3) Inspection and test technology

4) The tribology theory and application

5) The traction power supply, transmission and control

6) Suspension train technology (including the ultra-high-speed vacuum pipeline suspension transportation
